1. Sir, my compliments to you for sending such a magnificent contingent of
communications
professionals to Eilsen AFB AK! During
the period of 18-29 Jun 01, several
members of the ###th
Communications Flight joined up with the Iceman Team and helped us tackle
several tough jobs. They
assisted an undermanned Ground Radio shop, gave our Base Communications Center a
shot in the arm as
we continue to struggle with implementation of the Defense Messaging System
initiative, and perhaps
most noteworthy, helped us migrate nearly 1,000 desktops from Windows 95/98 to
Windows NT/2000
in less than two weeks, which helped us alleviate a recurring domain controller
problem that has plaqued
Eielson for months.
2. Eielson is a popular destination for Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard
units to perform their
annual training and, frankly, it can be difficult to find a way to incorporate
these organizations into our
operations for such a short time frame. Not the case with your people. I have
never seen a group have
such a great impact in such a little time. Please pass on my sincere
appreciation to team leader SMSgt
