Q: What is NCOA?

A: NCOA is the Non Commissioned Office Academy. It is a school you must attend when you are a Tech Sergeant (E-6) if you want to be allowed to reenlist or get promoted.

Q: Where is it located?

A: There are 15 of them throughout the Air Force.

Q: How long is it?

It is 28 academic days, about 40-45 actual days.

Q: Will I have to give speeches?

A: Yes and no, you will not give formal speeches, but you will give any where from one to three briefings.

Q: Are any of the speeches impromptu?

A: No, impromptu speeches/briefings have been removed from the curriculum as of this posting.  There has been some talk of them being added again.

Q: Will I have to write?

A: Yes and no.  You will not have to write papers, but you will have to work on bullet writing and editor skills.  You will have to proof read several narratives (Air Force Memos, Letters, and Awards) and a bunch of bullet statements.

Q: Will I have to march?

A: Depends on where your class is held.  I did not have too.  But there is plenty of other Drill actiivities.

Q: Can I go as a SSgt?

A: Yes, but typically your squadron will be given x number of slots and they will send the highest ranking person who has not been.
