Key Points to Writing
  • If you haven't already, take a writing class
  • WRITE!!! The more you do it, the better you get.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for HELP.
  • The only person looking out for either you or your subordinate is YOU!
  • Use a spell checker (F7 in Office)
  • Remember, writing doesn't have to win to REWARD!
  • Use various writing resources like Merriam-Webster Online.

The following Airman of the Quarter example has been taken out of an email submission.  I did not change mission information, only names to protect myself and the people I have received the information from.  If you have anything you would like to submit, please do so.  If you have found this information useful, please let me know. Everyone of these letters has taken considerable amount of time to put together.  Please treat yourself to something special from one of the ads on the page.  We will both get something out of it.  (All money gathered pays for hosting fees and domain fees.  HONESTLY, when I see money come in it also prompts me to work harder on the site.)

LEADERSHIP AND JOB PERFORMANCE:
- Researched/accounted 667 tests valued at $24K--coordinated fusion of centrally funded allergy testing for AF
- Shipped critical chemistry supplies to Balad AB; directly supported GWOT--saved AF $2K/zero down time
- Developed comment codes in CHCS; provided guidance to physicians--reduced rejections/recall patients 20%
- Trained three personnel in lab shipping section; ensured distribution to nine reference labs--continued support
- Built 24-hr kidney stone panel; 18 new tests to select from--patients afforded localized care from physicians
- Transported 279 pre-deployment HIV assays; 100% PIMR updated-- mission capable Airmen ready to fight

SIGNIFICANT SELF-IMPROVEMENT:
- Continued pursuit of education in Medical Technology; enrolled in "Public Speaking"--final class for CCAF
- Earned two Continuing Education Units; completed advanced phlebotomy competency assessment--aced test

BASE OR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
- Conducted three FTAC briefings to 75; educated on alcohol/substance abuse--ensured awareness of choices
- Key role in set-up of CoRC sponsored basketball tourney/talent show--provided Airmen fun sportsmanship

ACRONYMS:

CHCS - Composite Healthcare Computer System
PIMR - Preventative Health Assessment / Individual Medical Readiness

Note:

Really good package.  Hits all of the key points; leadership, cost savings, education, community leadership!  Great example of a winning AF1206.  The only issue is CoRC as I had to scratch my head look at another submission then it hit me...  Culture of Responsible Choices new AF Buzz...
